Energy
The aims of the Energy thematic area are to transform the current fossil-fuel based energy system into a more sustainable one based on a diverse portfolio of energy sources and carriers combined with enhanced energy efficiency, to address the pressing challenges of security of supply and climate change, whilst increasing the competitiveness of Europe’s energy industries.
The Energy budget from 2007-2013 is €2.3B.

The Energy Research Map of Ireland and FP7 Opportunities
See http://research.seai.ie/ for SEAI's data collection exercise that has identified and categorised over 700 energy related research and development projects on the island of Ireland, led by over 200 Principal Investigators across twenty-one academic institutions in the period 2004 - 2010, and links to relevant FP7 Energy opportunities by research area and topic.
